A three-storey Georgian town house on one of Denmark Hill's best residential streets — a 5-minute walk from Denmark Hill station and King's College Hospital. The property was let as a whole house at £2,600/month to a couple who'd been there for 3 years. Managed by Acorn Camberwell on Denmark Hill.
The house had original Georgian features throughout that you rarely find in South London. The ground-floor reception room had full-height timber panelling on three walls — original 1820s woodwork, painted in Farrow & Ball estate emulsion. This can't be treated with standard polish (it builds up in the grain and agents flag it). Royal Cleaning wiped every panel with a lightly damp soft cloth, working vertically with the grain. The carved stone fireplace surround — Portland stone — was cleaned with pH-neutral product only. No acidic cleaners anywhere near natural stone.
The kitchen was on the lower ground floor — a separated room (not open-plan, typical of Georgian layouts) with a tall ceiling and a sash window at garden level. Built-in Neff oven dismantled and degreased — 50 minutes, moderate buildup from 3 years of regular cooking. The front garden path — original black and white chequerboard tiles — was swept. The communal area wasn't applicable here (whole house let), but the front door and brass letterbox were cleaned and polished.
